4 Garrison Officers Mess Tennis Club walloped Sakumono Tennis Club 12-7 in a special independence tournament between the two clubs at 4 Garrison Tennis Courts in Kumasi last weekend. The two day friendly tournament was sponsored by Access Bank and Royal Bank.

4 Garrison Officers Mess led by President Samuel Ampedu Kyei paraded its finest players to dominate the singles winning 7-1 but the visiting Sakumono Tennis Club also won 6-5 in the doubles event.

First game was Ladies Single,where Sakumono Tennis Club recorded their first victory us Augustina Yamak defeated Brenda Suntinga 7-5. In the Men’s Singles matches 4 Garrison dominated all the games us Francis Akpesde defeating Pascal Alome Ziyab 7-5, Samuel Aido ousting Francis Gbolonyo 7-4, and Dr. Abraham B. trashing Frank Tawiah 7-0.

In the Women’s doubles Sakumono Tennis Club’s Yamak Augustina paired up Louisa Davies to beat Brenda Suntiga and her partner Mariam Mahmud 7-5. Sakumono Tennis Club continued in the Men’s Doubles as Frank Buaful /Kojhoi Stephens beat Nana Osei/ Niikwe 7-2. Eben Lawson/ Bernard Bortey humbled Joe Kodie/ George Ayona 7-4 . Richard Nkansah/ Frank Yates outshined Robert Tetteh/Sam Adu Boakye 7-1. Sam Asare/ Fetus Alhassan with 7-6 win over KwabenaAsamoah/Eric Agyere. Pascal AlomeZiyab/ Francis Gbolonyo won 7-5 over Samuel Aido/ Francis Akpese.

Chief host and President of 4 Garrison Samuel Ampadu-Kyei described the tournament as one of most successful tournaments the club has organized. He thanked the sponsors for their critical support for fruitful event. He added that the win over Sukumono Tennis Club did not come as a surprise because his club members prepared for the tournaments very well.
