The 6th edition of Tarkwa Goldfields Annual Tennis Tour ended with Eric Okyere, Eunice Mintah, Michael Bonsu, Kwaku A. Donkor, Eric/Tracy, Eunice/linda, Eric/Joseph emerging as champions of the men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles, mixed doubles categories respectively. Present during the final was the General Manager of Tarkwa Goldfields Michiel Vander Merwe who also serve us the Club patron and Godfred Avane who is Mineral Resources Manager and Executive Club Member. This year’s tournament was successful with sponsorship from Ecobank Ghana Limited.
Eric Okyere walked away with the men’s singles title defeating Emmanuel Amos-Abanyie 9-0. In the women’s singles category Eunice Mintah blew away ruby Sanoah in a game that ended 9-5. Kwaku A. Donkor won the beginners title with a 9-4 win over Kweku Wofa Ntarmah. Michael Bonsu outlasted Gideon Asakpo 9-8 to win Veterans title win.
In the men’s doubles Eric Okyere added another title after pairing with Joseph Banful to beat John Adingela/ Jacob Mishiame in 9-6, Eric Okyere then teamed up with Tracy Ampah for the mixed doubles title, beating Albert Naamu and Eunice Mintah 9-4. Dr Frank Dartey Amankonah and Francis Amankwah won the beginners doubles round robin matches.
Eunice Mintah won her second title after she partnered Linda Osei to win women’s doubles title ousting Sanet Nel and Annelie Markram 9-5.
Speaking tennisgh.com PRO and Assistant organizer of Tarkwa Goldfields Club, Mr.Duane Llywellyn Lartey said “this year’s edition is best so far, year in year out, we try improve the organization of tournament and happy that standard of play has also improve”.
Mr.Duane Llywellyn further praised Ecobank Ghana limited sponsoring this year’s edition and management of Tarkwa Goldfields for their support in making 6th edition a successful one.
